I am an avid cyclist and from June of 2020 to August 2024 went on a tour of the western states of the US, Sonora, Mexico, the southern parts of Thailand and into Malaysia. This is a story which will be told one day.
Beyond cycling, I am one who sits for meditation daily for several hours each day. This started consciously and consistently when in Mexico. I had "meditated" before that time on a few occasions, and I put quotation marks because I only looked the part as if I was meditating, but my body is one that can sit in lotus posture with ease; the mind, well that's not so easy. The outward journey of cycling and exploring the world, as I call it, turned to an inward journey.
The inward journey brought me to attend a Yoga Teacher Training Program in Tucson, Arizona over a 3 month duration. During this training period I would either cycle to the Sonoran desert, 60 miles south from the studio location during the weekday schedule breaks and when in the nearby area would sleep in the parks or under a bridge, content with the experience. I lived in a Zen Buddhist Monastery in Oregon during the Ango period of intense training. And have attending several meditation retreats in Thailand, Malaysia and in Indonesia.
In the early and mid 2000's I was a freelance business consultant working as a liaison between start-up and small companies needing website and systems developments for their operations and the programmers and designers who completed the projects. These were the days before Facebook launched openly to the public, as they were only available to university and the college markets. My own ability to code was limited to HTML, and beginners CSS but had a natural ability to understand the language and functionality of technology and those who coded and developed it. Accounting and business was an area of speciality that allowed me to understand the needs and pressures of business owners. Bridging the gap between both worlds was successful and, most importantly for me, educational.
In 2007, I had the calling to join the military, and so, joined the USMC infantry. Letting go of freelance work, military life took me away from society, business, friends and all that I knew to be and immersed me into a completely different world. After 4 years of service and 2 tours I was discharged honorably. It had taken me over 10 years to come back to a semblance of what my life is to be, do and want out of it. So much of that time was lost in suffering, pain, and wandering aimlessly.
This website is a combination of shared adventures, experiences, projects, and everything in between. It will cover topics of Spirituality, Technology, Cycling and Travel Adventures as well as the Projects I'm involved in. I believe in complete transparency, honesty, and accountability.
